We are an independent group of experienced professionals who provide consulting services in hydrogen and renewable energies, integrated operations, and digital health. Our bases are in Perth, Melbourne, Brisbane, New Zealand, Europe, and US, providing a global service. We currently are engaged in hydrogen related projects with a value exceeding $30 billion and connect clients, customers and capital to enable high impact sustainable economic projects worldwide.

Our people

David Cavanagh (Managing Director)

David is Manager Director of Integrated Energy, and Chief Hydrogen Officer of Hydrogen West and Hydrogen East.  David is a recognised global thought leader in the area of hydrogen, renewable energy, HSE, resources,  and project management.  He brings more than thirty years of hydrogen and renewables, HSE, government, resources and energy experience, in Australia, and Morocco, UK, Azerbaijan, Indonesia, Norway, USA, Africa, and Middle East. His background includes lead roles in hydrogen and renewables, HSE, asset management, planning, and systems engineering.

He has particular expertise in Hydrogen and Renewables, HSE, integrated operations and digital transformation across green hydrogen and renewables project feasibility, conceptual design, specification and procurement.  Client project value in hydrogen and renewables exceeds $30 billon for projects David has led.  David is a recognised national and global technical authority in hydrogen, writing Australian standards for hydrogen mobility on land, air and sea, and contributing similarly to international hydrogen standards.  He is also responsible as Chief Hydrogen Officer of Hydrogen West and Hydrogen East for hydrogen companies with a combined project capex in excess of $1 billion and NPV exceeding $2 billion.  He is an invited speaker to many national and international conferences related to hydrogen and his advice is sought by leading investor groups internationally, and has been selected to represent Australia at the United Nations Climate Change Conference COP27.

Prior to the last five years working in hydrogen, David has a proven track record in consulting assessments which have identified tens of billions of dollars of savings for his clients around the world. His client list includes Infinite Blue Energy (Arrowsmith Hydrogen Project), Top Group/Hydrogen West and Hydrogen East, (Hydrogen and Renewables), City of Melville, INPEX, ConocoPhillips, Woodside, Santos, BP, Exxon, ADCO, Shell/QGC, Oil Search, OCP, Newcrest Mining, Rio Tinto, mining and processing startup CleanTech, Universities in Australia, China and Russia, and the Australian Federal Government (NERA). He is the author of several publications in the area including multiple professional papers (reported on front page of Wall Street Journal) and a book for Shell.

Monica Deoghare (Principal Technology Consultant)

Monica is Principal Technology Consultant at Integrated Energy and has been with the company since 2020. Her background includes lead roles in hydrogen and renewables and HSE.  She has contributed to work on improving energy efficiency and decarbonization strategy for mining company and hydrogen feasibility study , business case and roadmap for shire in WA , hydrogen and renewable projects mainly specifying functional requirements of mechanical components, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams, Process Flow Diagrams and conducting detailed solar and hydrogen analysis , procurement package for offtake loading arm (Gas and Liquid Hydrogen), hydrogen refuelling station (Gas and Liquid) , instrumentation and communication package and Structural, Mechanical and Piping Package, total cost of ownership and total value of operation tool for one of the Logistics Company in Western Australia and for UK project, did analysis on routes , distance, and transportation cost for Western Australia  for one of the hydrogen trucking company to finalize their specs.

Monica holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering Design and Diploma in Automobile Engineering. She has three years experience as an Assistant Professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department of KDK College of Engineering, India. As well as this, she has published more than eight research papers in International journals and conferences. Her key skills are AutoCad, CreO, Solidworks, Ansys, and HomerPro.

Sam Wu (Senior Design Consultant)

Sam is a Senior Design Consultant at Integrated Energy, and has been with the company since 2022. One of his key undertakings involves the design and visualisation of hydrogen refuelling stations throughout Australia. His footprint also covers the visualisation of Koolan Island for Mount Gibson Iron Limited and the conceptual planning of a hydrogen valley in Dardanup, Western Australia, and solar farm project in Townsville, Queensland. Cumulatively, he has participated in preliminary designs of over two dozen hydrogen projects across the country.

Sam’s academic background spans both Hong Kong and Australia. He began with a first-degree Architectural Studies in Hong Kong. This period saw him being awarded the prestigious “Best Final Year Thesis Award” in which not only recognised his academic excellence but also deepened his research prowess. Following this, he furthered his studies with a Master’s in Architecture from the esteemed University of Queensland.

Yuli Rangel (Senior Sustainability Consultant)

Yuli is a Senior Sustainability Consultant at Integrated Energy. Her background includes lead roles in hydrogen and renewable energy. She has contributed to work on improving energy efficiency and decarbonization strategy for mining company and hydrogen feasibility study, business case and roadmap for shire in WA. A results-oriented Environmental Engineer with a diverse background in analysing water, sediments, soil, noise, and air quality. Possesses comprehensive expertise in managing ArcGIS and knowledge of ISO 50.001 energy management and HSEQ integrated management systems. Experienced in renewable energies, energy efficiency, environmental impact assessment, policy and regulations, and environmental education. Skilled in quality sampling of natural resources and conducting microbiological, physical, and chemical analysis. Proficient in water resource treatment and integral management of solid and hazardous waste. Adept at preparing and presenting analysis and management reports. Currently pursuing career development opportunities as an Environmental Consultant to provide expert advice and support to clients in various industries to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and promote sustainable practices.

Yuli holds a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering and a Master’s degree in Environmental and Energetic Management in Organizations.

Ross McAdam (Principal Consultant)

Ross McAdam has over thirty years of IT experience where he has worked across many industry sectors with major international companies in Australia, New Zealand, the UK, the US and Norway where he has demonstrated a record of delivering business focussed outcomes.  He primarily works in the natural resources sector where he has undertaken a number of engagements with INPEX, Woodside Petroleum, Rio Tinto and BHP Iron Ore.  As part of a major greenfields upstream oil and gas development, he worked extensively in the Enterprise Architecture discipline, an enterprise planning and governance methodology designed to maximise organisational efficiency. He has a special interest in Enterprise Architecture and Business Process Management as effective frameworks to realise business strategy.  He jointly managed and participated in a special interest group in Business Process Management which attracted many local, national and international speakers.  He holds a Bachelor of Business in Information Processing.
 
 

Dr. Andrew Marsh (Principal Consultant)

andrew_1024Dr. Marsh is an architect, design consultant, academic and software developer. He has worked on many performance-driven building projects around the world and authored a wide range of technical and analytical design software that is now used internationally in both education and practice.
 
Andrew studied architecture at the University of Western Australia in Perth and received his doctorate there. He has worked in Australia and the United Kingdom as an environmental analyst, performative design consultant, university lecturer, research fellow, software engineer and company director. He co-founded a software development company which was subsequently acquired by Autodesk, where he worked for a number of years on simulation and analysis in BIM. Andrew was the original author of Ecotect (which became Autodesk Ecotect Analysis), is creative director of the Natural Frequency Journal and regularly contribute articles and research papers at international conferences and in other journals.
 
 

Greg Brown (Principal Consultant)

Screen Shot 2016-03-07 at 16.43.58Greg has in excess of 25 years’ experience in translating technology to successful business outcomes.  In particular, he has been selecting, designing and deploying ECM and related solution for 15 years across Asia Pacific.  He has performed project director roles as well as governance roles with Steering Committees / Project Boards on some of the largest deployments in the APAC region.  He has worked on both sides of the ECM System selection process and is uniquely placed to provide high level strategic advice, in particular, around ECM projects.  He also has specific knowledge of the engineering, construction and operation (including transition to operations) phase of large asset projects

Greg was formally trained as a Chartered Accountant after completing a Bachelor of Commerce, specialising in Finance, from the University of Western Australia.

 

Kasia Kondas (Principal Organisational Consultant)

Kasia is an experienced human capital and OD leader in the mining and resources sector with 8 years international experience and 20 years in HR management, organisational development and project management/consulting across Australia, Europe and South Africa in resources, manufacturing and financial services with Thiess Australian Mining, Deloitte in Australia and Central Europe and Daimler Chrysler/Mitsubishi.  She has an extensive track record in providing transformation services to clients such as Rio Tinto and others in resources and energy, higher education and the WA Government. She established and ran a successful international business focused on culture transformation, leadership, capability development and internal communications.  Lead roles in Deloitte and Daimler Chrysler global transformation projects.  Change management leader for Asia-Pacific. Kasia’s focus is on people, organisation and culture and leading transformation programs to improve effectiveness and profitability and to develop business capability.  Kasia is a registered psychologist in Australia and holds a masters degree in Commerce (International Management).  She has also completed her transformational leadership training with Mt Eliza Business School and is a member of the Institute of Company Directors.

Bipin Paudel (Technology Consultant)

Bipin is a technology consultant at Integrated Energy. He has his Master of Professional Engineering (Mechanical) from University of Technology Sydney. He has worked in projects like electrical conversion of conventional vehicles, valve design for medical components, and currently working on tidal energy generation as a part of a decarbonization project. His work experience spans both Nepal and Australia.

Bipin has high-level skills in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, ANSYS, Matlab, and Python.

 
 
 

Zehui Li (Technology Consultant)

Zehui is a technology consultant at Integrated Energy. His core interests include project management, renewable energy, power electronics and power systems. Zehui has a mixed academic background. He learned Chinese working environment during his undergraduate studies. After this, he started his study in Electrical and Electronic Engineering in Australia.

During his academic career, Zehu was involved in the design of reducing air-conditioning power consumption and drone charging platform as a project administrator. At present, with Integrated Energy, he is involved in completing electrical calculations for Cue Roadhouse project.

Sanjaya Bartaula (Technology Consultant)

Sanjaya is a technology consultant at Integrated Energy. He is a graduate in architecture, marketing, and civil construction. His core interests include project management, alternative construction methods, and cause marketing. Sanjaya’s career has seen him involved in a wide variety of roles – ranging from design consultant to business development assistant to sales manager.

Currently, for Integrated Energy, Sanjaya is carrying out load analyses and geotechnical analysis for a project. He is also working at developing his capabilities in 3-D visualizations and Virtual Reality technologies.

 

Mike Ulster (Integrated Energy Americas Director)

Mike is a senior energy executive with 40 plus years of experience in the Energy sector. His career has encompassed from individual performer to senior-level corporate executive across:

  • Major Integrated International Energy Companies (Amoco and BP)
  • Mid-sized International Energy Company (Woodside Energy)
  • Private equity held (IPO’d in January 2019) International LNG/Power company (New Fortress Energy)
  • For-Profit and Non-Profit non-executive board roles
 
Working experiences have included locations in the US (offshore and onshore) and multiple international assignments in the UK, Middle East, Australia, West Africa, Southeast Asia, Central America, Caribbean Islands, Canada and Mexico.
 
He is recognised for his global expertise in creating and delivering sustainable performance excellence across diverse
settings, developing and leading strategic and tactical world class organizations, and in crisis and risk management.
 

Prof Michael Small (Integrated Energy Principal Modelling Consultant)

Undergraduate and doctoral degrees in pure and applied mathematics from the University of Western Australia (UWA), Perth, WA, Australia. After postdoctoral experience in Stellenbosch and Edinburgh, he joined the faculty of the Department of Electronic and Information Engineering, Hong Kong Polytechnic University (2001-2011). In 2011, he was the recipient of Australian Research Council Future Fellowship and in 2012 was made Winthrop Professor of Applied Mathematics in the School of Mathematics and Statistics, UWA. Since 2015 he has held the UWA-CSIRO Chair of Complex Engineering Systems. He is Editor of the journal Chaos and Associate Editor of International Journal of Bifurcations and Chaos. His research interests include complex systems, complex networks, chaos and nonlinear dynamics, nonlinear time series analysis, and computational modelling.
